The IEEE Workshop on Wide Bandgap Power Devices and Applications provides a forum for researchers, circuit designers, and application engineers from the Electron Device Society and Power Electronics Society to share technology updates, research findings, development experience and potential applications.

  • Dielectrics & passivation
  • Device structure & fabrication techniques
  • Device evaluation & modeling
  • Normally-off device designs
  • SOAs including short-circuit, spike & transient tolerance
  • Harsh environment (high temperature) operation & reliability
  • Very-high efficiency or compact converters
  • Hard-switched and resonant switch applications
  • Gate drive and other auxiliary circuits
  • Power modules and ICs
  • High-performance passive components
  • Integration with renewable energy resources
  • Application in vehicle electrification

Technical sessions:
Technical papers addressing the above mentioned topics are welcome.  Technical sessions will be held on the afternoons of Oct. 28 and Oct. 29.  A poster session will be held early evening on Oct. 28.

Short Courses:
Four short courses will be offered by experts from CREE, EPC, Infineon, and Oak Ridge National Laboratory on the afternoon of Sunday Oct. 27.

Keynote sessions:
Two keynote sessions will be held on the mornings of Oct. 28 and Oct. 29.  Six leading experts from academia, industry, and research institutes will share their insights on technology developments and future trends.

Panel Session:
A panel session with panelists from government agencies and leading industries will be held on the late morning of Oct. 29.
