TDK recognized as Leader and awarded an A ranking in the CDP Supplier Engagement Rating for the second consecutive year

TDK Corporation has been recognized as a Leader, receiving an A ranking, in global environmental non-profit CDP's Supplier Engagement Rating 2021. CDP works on environmental issues such as climate change.

In the Supplier Engagement Rating, the answers provided to the CDP Climate Change Program are used to evaluate the companies by items related to governance, targets, estimation of greenhouse gas emissions in their corporate value chain (SCOPE3), and supply chain engagement. TDK was praised because it promotes environmental activities working with suppliers and discloses SCOPE3 emissions.

CDP is a non-profit that drives companies to engage in environmental issues such as climate change, water security resources protection, and forest preservation and to disclose information, based on requests from global institutional investors who are very interested in environmental issues. In 2021, over 13,000 companies representing over 64% of global market capitalization disclosed environmental data through the CDP. Of the over 12,000 companies that were rated by the CDP, over 500 companies that fall into the top 8% were selected as Supplier Engagement Leaders. Inclusion on this list demonstrates that a company is proactively working with their suppliers to ensure that sustainability is present in every part of their value chain. In addition, TDK has received an “A-“ranking in the CDP climate change category and an ‘A List’ for focusing on water security for the second consecutive year.

Through-hole and surface-mount 1.5 and 3W DC-DC converters operate at full load in -40 to +85oC temperatures from TDK

Product ImageTDK Corporation (TSE 6762) announces the introduction of additional models to the popular CCG series of isolated DC-DC converters. The 1.5W and 3W rated parts operate convection cooled at full load from -40 to +85oC. All voltage combinations are available with terminations for either surface-mount or through-hole placement.  Applications include data and tele-communications, test, measurement, process control, broadcast and battery powered equipment.

The new CCG1R5 (1.5W) and CCG3 (3W) models comprises of 36 voltage and current combinations with 3.3V, 5V, 12V, 15V and dual +/-12V and +/-15V outputs. The dual output models can also be connected to supply 24V and 30V.  All can operate from either 4.5 to 18V, 9 to 36V or 18 to 76Vdc inputs to support operation from 5V, 12V, 24V and 48V power sources. This 4:1 input range can assist with inventory reduction programs with one part number covering two nominal voltages.

Both the 1.5W and 3W share a common compact package size of 15.7mm x 10.4mm x 11.5mm (length x width x height).  The plastic case is not encapsulated, avoiding quality risks associated with silicone potting compounds during reflow soldering.

Over-current protection and remote on/off is standard, with a -5/+10% output voltage adjustment range on single outputs only. Input to output isolation is 1,500Vdc. Certification is to the IEC/UL/CSA/EN 62368-1 safety standards with the CE and UKCA marks for the Low Voltage and RoHS Directives.

TDK employees take home two awards at MEMS and Sensors Executive Congress

TDK Corporation today announced two personnel award wins at the 2021 MEMS and Sensors Executive Congress in San Diego. Dr. David Horsley, Co-Founder and CTO of Chirp Microsystems, a TDK Group Company, was named as an inductee into the 2021 MEMS and Sensors Industry Group (MSIG) Hall of Fame while Omar Abed, Vice President and General Manager of TDK InvenSense’s Microphone Business Unit, received the Emerging Leaders Award. Both awards further cement TDK as an established, impactful leader in MEMS and sensors.

Presented annually, the MSIG Hall of Fame recognizes new, cutting-edge products and industry leaders that have left a substantial mark on the MEMS and sensors markets. Horsley’s recognition as a Hall of Fame member marks the third time a TDK employee received this recognition, with Yoshio Sekiguchi, InvenSense’s Senior Strategic Advisor inducted in 2018 and Peter Hartwell, InvenSense’s CTO, inducted in 2019.

“I feel honored to be named as a leader in the MEMS and sensors industry alongside such a talented roster of innovators,” shared Horsley. “This award is really a recognition of the whole Chirp team’s contributions to the MEMS industry.”

Horsley is also a faculty member at the University of California and recently became a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors in recognition for his contributions to the field of ultrasonic MEMS, including the invention and commercialization of the ultrasonic MEMS fingerprint sensor and the ultrasonic MEMS time-of-flight sensor. Horsley holds a PhD from UC Berkeley and has 22 issued patents.

The Emerging Leaders Award recognizes innovative emerging leaders under 40 years old who are a driving force behind the creation of products, methods, and materials of the future. Abed received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from University of California, Berkeley, and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis on Analog and RF Circuit Design from University of Southern California. He is an alumnus of the Harvard Business School’s Program for Leadership Development and holds five patents for his work on MEMS pressure sensors.

 
Ten Pao’s Production Base in Vietnam Has Commenced Operation Further Enhancing Its Global Production Layout

Ten Pao Group Holdings Limited (“Ten Pao”, and together with its subsidiaries, the “Group”) is pleased to announce that the production base in Vietnam, which Ten Pao invested and constructed, has officially commenced operation in the second quarter this year. SUBARU Selects ON Semiconductor Image Sensing Technology for its New-Generation EyeSight® Driver Assist Platform

ON Semiconductor and SUBARU redefine leading-edge ADAS capability with new machine vision algorithms and sensing technology

ON Semiconductor, driving energy efficient innovations, has announced that SUBARU CORPORATION has selected its image sensing technology to enable camera-based ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) in the car manufacturer's new-generation EyeSight Driver Assist platform. The Levorg, a 2020 All-Wheel Drive Sports Tourer, is the first model to offer the new system.

Winner of numerous safety awards, SUBARU’s EyeSight is one of the most well established and widely deployed vision-based ADAS solutions in the market. The new generation continues the stereo camera architecture, providing a range of ADAS features including adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist and pre-collision braking system. As with previous versions of EyeSight, ON Semiconductor's image sensing technology acts as the ‘eyes’ to enable this important safety functionality. The new-generation Eyesight, recently announced in the Japan market, provides additional features such as active lane change assist and an emergency driver stop system.

TDK Lambda's Power Supply Technical Center Certified to ISO 13485 – The First Ever in Japan, Bringing the Group Total to Five Locations

TDK Corporation is pleased to announce that TDK-Lambda Japan received ISO 13485:2016 Medical Devices - Quality Management System - certification for the TDK-Lambda Nagaoka Technical Center (Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan).  This is the first time a standard switching power supply manufacturer in Japan has received ISO 13485 certification and brings the group total to five locations.

The scope of this latest registration covers the Design/Development, Manufacturing and Servicing Activities (Analysis, Repair and Overhaul for Field Returns) of Components (Switching Power Supply) for Active Medical Devices.  Now, five of TDK-Lambda’s major development, design and production sites in Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, China, and Malaysia have been certified.  This enhances the Group’s capability to provide products and services to the global medical device market.

TDK-Lambda has focused on the medical device market, developing a large portfolio of medically certified products to the international IEC 60601-1 standard.  Adopting ISO 13485 provides a practical foundation for manufacturers to address the Medical Device Directives, regulations and responsibilities.  It demonstrates a commitment to the safety and quality of medical devices.

Transphorm Inc. Raises $21 Million and Completes Reverse Merger

Leader in GaN High Voltage Power Devices Successfully Closes Merger and Completes Financing to Advance its GaN Power Conversion Business

Transphorm, Inc., a pioneer in the development and manufacturing of high reliability-high performance gallium nitride (GaN) semiconductors for power conversion, announced today it raised $21.5 million in a private placement equity financing. Prior to the financing, Transphorm Technology, Inc. (“Transphorm”) completed a reverse merger with Peninsula Acquisition Corporation (“Peninsula”), a public Delaware corporation, whereby Transphorm became a wholly owned subsidiary of Peninsula. Following the merger, Peninsula changed its name to Transphorm, Inc., and will continue the historical business of Transphorm. Previous members of Transphorm’s Board of Directors, David Kerko, Eiji Yatagawa, Brittany Bagley, Mario Rivas and Dr. Umesh Mishra will remain as directors of the Company.

With its leading technology position, Transphorm has developed, and is in the market with, multiple families of products that are the building blocks for an array of power converter and inverter systems. Transphorm’s GaN products switch much faster than traditional silicon-based solutions and provide higher efficiency with increased system power density while enabling system size reduction. Transphorm has a proven track record of high quality, high reliability (Q+RTM) solutions as well as a series-of-firsts including the first JEDEC and Automotive (AEC-Q101) qualification of high voltage GaN devices. It’s robust GaN platform makes GaN products easy to use and integrate in systems with standard drive electronics.

Given the clear advantages of GaN, Transphorm has begun to see meaningful customer adoption in power adapters/fast chargers, power supplies for data-centers, communication infrastructure and broad industrial applications. In addition, Transphorm continues to see heightened interest from automotive EV suppliers for chargers, converters and inverters. The financing was led by existing investors including an affiliate of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. L.P. (“KKR”), a new strategic investor, Marelli, and new prominent institutional investors. B. Riley FBR, Inc. (member FINRA/SIPC) was the lead placement agent and Craig-Hallum Capital Group LLC was the co-placement agent. Montrose Capital Partners was the sponsor for this transaction.

ON Semiconductor Named One of the 2020 World’s Most Ethical Companies® by Ethisphere for the Fifth Time

Recognition honors those companies that take the long view with a purpose-based strategy and strive to create positive change throughout their global communities.

ON Semiconductor, driving energy efficient innovations, today announces that it has been recognized by Ethisphere, a global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practices, as one of the 2020 World’s Most Ethical Companies.

Grounded in Ethisphere’s proprietary Ethics Quotient®, the World’s Most Ethical Companies assessment process includes more than 200 questions on culture, environmental and social practices, ethics and compliance activities, governance, diversity and initiatives to support a strong value chain. The process serves as an operating framework to capture and codify the leading practices of organizations across industries and around the globe. Best practices and insights from the 2020 honorees will be released in a report and webcast in March and April of this year.

All companies that participate in the assessment process receive an Analytical Scorecard providing them a holistic assessment of where their programs stand against the demanding standards of leading companies.
