he Queen City lived up to its reputation as the vibrant center of the New South in hosting a near record-breaking attendance at this year’s APEC. The Charlotte Convention Center venue was well designed to handle the extensive range of APEC activities - paper sessions, seminars and tradeshow – all within easy access of one another.

Of the 976 paper submitted, 526 were accepted and presented at the technical sessions. The exhibition hall was full with 239 companies that exhibiting and a waiting list of another 75 companies. In addition to the Education Seminars and Vendor Seminars, there were a total of 15 Industry Sessions with 93 invited presentations. Even though it was a very busy and packed program the venue provided many opportunities to renew friendships, meet new people and network with others in the industry.

Charlotte is the home of NASCAR and this year’s social event was held at the NASCAR Hall of Fame right across the street from the Convention Center. This was an evening of food and drinks with an opportunity for attendees to race against others at speed approaching 200 miles per hour!

APEC 2016 will return to Long Beach, March 20 - 24, 2016 and promises to once again result in record-breaking attendance. As power electronics continues to provide the enabling technology for energy efficient products and systems, APEC conference and exposition fills a critical role in delivering education and information and in networking with our industry peers.
