The electricity distribution grid is a complex network. It is also one of the only advanced networks to not have storage capabilities. With demands for electrical power continually rising, utilities and project developers are focusing on how to stabilize intermittent electrical energy production and demand. The combination of high-energy density and low costs found in advanced battery design can potentially provide storage services to the grid, utilities and downstream customers by improving power quality, conversion, capacity and reliability.
The Knowledge Foundation's Grid-Scale Energy Storage conference track convenes electrical/chemical engineers, materials scientists, battery manufacturers, energy storage system integrators, project developers, electrical utilities managers, independent power producers, electrical system regulators and policymakers, governmental agencies and the investor community to energize the dialogue about efficient energy capacity, storage and conversion.
