The 4th International Power Supply on Chip Workshop (PwrSoC2014) will be hosted by Northeastern University, 360 Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA on October 6-8, 2014.
PwrSoC 2014 is the leading international technical workshop dedicated to advancing important power conversion technologies.” The workshop focuses on the integration of both modular and granular commercially successful electronic power converters for multiple applications, by accessing a broad range of leading-edge technologies. Complete on-die integration and integration within package are of prime interest. System performance requirements presented by present day and emerging applications demand ever-greater current density, voltage regulation and optimized control, form factor reduction, efficiency, and cost reduction.
A major challenge on the path to integration and form factor reduction of dc-dc converters is the difficulty of integrating energy handling power passive components with conventional silicon processes. Advanced technologies for the design and manufacture of these passives are focal topics for the workshop. Strategies addressing circuit and system approaches importantly addressed as well.
The General Chair for the workshop is Arnold Alderman of Anagenesis, Inc, a member of the Power Sources Manufacturers Association (PSMA). In welcoming the opportunity to chair the workshop in Boston, he stated that “this workshop, as in past workshops, will continue seeking to address a broad number of device and packaging leading-edge technologies, alternative topologies, and manufacturing processes that will enable both the emerging modular and granular PwrSoC providing power delivery for large system on chip platforms, such as microprocessors, microcontrollers, DSP and ASIC chips, where multiple independent power rails enhance system performance. Echoing previous observations by PwrSoC Workshop founder, Tyndall Institute's Dr. Cian O’Mathuna, we continue to see a significant government and commercial investment growth in PwrSoC enabling technologies via research partnerships between academia and industry”.
Workshop attendees will include global technical and business leaders from industry and academia as well as graduate students undertaking research in this emerging space. The program committee under the leadership of Matt Wilkowski, from Altera Corporation, is allowing extra networking time, still following the successful formula from previous years with a single track of invited talks and posters selected via a dedicated call to be launched shortly.
